A major controversy has emerged regarding the scanning of answer sheets of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) 12th board exams. During the re-evaluation process, students have been alleging discrepancies in the scanned copies of their answer sheets provided to them. On the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), several students and their parents have leveled serious allegations against the CBSE, including blurry scan copies, missing pages, incorrect marks, and uneven evaluation. The controversy began when some students complained about discrepancies in the scanned copies of their answer sheets. For instance, a student reported that pages 18 and 19 of their economics answer sheet were missing from the scanned copy. Similarly, another student pointed out an issue in their physics answer sheet, where the scan jumped directly from page 3 to page 6, resulting in the loss of 10 marks due to the missing MCQ number 615. The student shared video evidence to support their claim and demanded verification of the original answer sheet. Additionally, several students have alleged that they were awarded zero marks in their answer sheets despite providing correct answers. In some cases, where partial marking or step marking was expected, especially in subjects like math and physics, marks were deducted instead. A student tweeted that their scanned answer sheet copy showed 19 marks, while the final result displayed 23 marks for the theory section, and they demanded clarification from the CBSE. A female parent also accused the CBSE of providing her daughter with scanned copies of four subjects, but one answer sheet was missing an entire page. She stated that many answers that matched the official answer key were not awarded marks. She expressed concern about her daughter's future, stating that a difference of 30 to 35 marks could affect admission and ranking in competitive exams. The 12th-grade board exams conducted by the CBSE are crucial for the careers of millions of students across the country. Therefore, transparency and accuracy in the evaluation and scanning process of answer sheets are essential. However, the CBSE has not issued an official statement regarding this controversy. Students and parents are continuously demanding clarification and appropriate action from the CBSE. This incident has once again raised questions about the transparency and reliability of the evaluation process in the education sector. Experts believe that the CBSE should improve its evaluation and scanning process to avoid such controversies and assure students that their evaluations are being conducted fairly and transparently.
