In a significant development amid the escalating controversy surrounding the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) On-Screen Marking (OSM) system for Class 12 evaluations, Chairman Rahul Singh and Secretary Himanshu Gupta were transferred on Tuesday. The decision comes as the government constituted a one-member committee to investigate the procurement and functioning of the OSM system, which has faced severe criticism over technical glitches and procedural lapses.
The committee, headed by S Radha Chauhan, Chairperson of the Capacity Building Commission, will inquire into all aspects related to the procurement of OSM services by CBSE. The controversy erupted after students reported serious issues such as blurred answer book scans, missing pages, and in some cases, being shown answer scripts of other candidates. These glitches emerged prominently after a large number of students applied for re-evaluation of their answer sheets and faced difficulties in making online payments.
