In a major step aimed at nurturing academic research and innovation, the Central University of Rajasthan (CUoR) in Ajmer has rolled out a new financial support scheme for PhD scholars admitted from the 2025-26 academic session. The initiative, announced by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Anand Bhalerao on May 24, 2026, introduces an additional monthly stipend of ₹5,000 on top of the existing UGC non-NET fellowship, significantly enhancing financial security for researchers.
Under the scheme, eligible scholars will receive ₹5,000 per month starting from the second semester of their PhD programme. During the first semester (coursework phase), scholars will continue to receive the standard UGC non-NET fellowship of ₹8,000 per month. From the second semester onwards, the total monthly support increases to ₹13,000. Additionally, a one-time contingency grant of ₹10,000 will be provided to cover research-related expenses such as fieldwork, data collection, and academic materials.
