Bengaluru police have arrested a 50-year-old boxing coach on charges of sexually harassing a 17-year-old student over several months, following a complaint filed by the victim’s mother. The accused, identified as Ramachandra and originally from Tamil Nadu, was taken into judicial custody on Saturday and lodged at Central Prison, Parappana Agrahara. The arrest comes after allegations surfaced that the coach had been misbehaving with the girl for nearly four years, with the harassment intensifying in the last five to six months.
According to the complaint filed at the Sampangiramanagar police station, the victim, a first-year pre-university college (PUC) student, has been training at a boxing club in Kanteerava Stadium for nearly a decade. The coach, who joined the club four years ago, reportedly began behaving inappropriately with her during this period. The mother stated that the misconduct escalated significantly in the past five to six months, prompting her to lodge a formal complaint with the club’s concerned committee. However, the harassment continued, leading to the filing of a police complaint.
