The Tiruchi Customs (Preventive) Commissionerate has issued an advisory urging passengers travelling to or from India to utilise the ATITHI 2.0 mobile application to expedite customs clearance and facilitate voluntary declaration of dutiable goods. The app, developed by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), Government of India, is designed to streamline the customs process for international passengers arriving in the country. By enabling pre-filing of baggage and currency declarations before commencing their journey, the app aims to reduce delays and congestion at airport red channels.
ATITHI 2.0 offers passengers the convenience of declaring dutiable goods and foreign currency prior to boarding flights to India. The app provides instant access to baggage rules, customs duty information, and passenger guidance through a mobile-based platform. Available on both Android and iOS platforms worldwide, the app caters to Indian residents as well as foreign nationals. Passengers have been specifically advised to declare valuable items such as gold, electronics, and other dutiable goods either prior to or upon arrival through the app.
