Meerut actress Rakhi Sawant booked for wearing revealing dress with PM Modi’s photo at Independence Day event

A case has been registered against actress Rakhi Sawant in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly wearing a revealing outfit featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photograph during a private Independence Day event. The incident has sparked major controversy on social media.

Filed in a Meerut court, the case against Rakhi Sawant has been registered under Sections 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult a woman’s modesty) of the Indian Penal Code. The complainant, a representative of the organizing company, stated, “The Independence Day event was meant to celebrate national unity. Wearing a revealing dress with the Prime Minister’s photo is offensive to public sentiment.”

Rakhi Sawant took to social media to explain the incident, clarifying that the outfit was simply a regular glamorous dress with no political or religious intent. She also alleged that the case was politically motivated.
