New Delhi, 1 June 2026: A sudden collapse of a five-storey building near Saket Metro Station in Delhi on the evening of 30 May has sent shockwaves through the city. Six people have died in the incident so far, while seven others sustained serious injuries. The building’s owner, Karamveer, who had been absconding since the tragedy, has now been arrested by the police. Further investigation is underway, and more action is expected in the case.
Providing details about the incident, police officials said the building in the Saidulajab area near Saket Metro Station collapsed around 7 p.m. on 30 May. People inside were trapped under the rubble, prompting immediate rescue operations. Teams from the police, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and Delhi Disaster Management Agency (DDMA) arrived at the site and launched a rescue mission. A green corridor was created to rush the injured to hospitals, including AIIMS Trauma Centre, Safdarjung Hospital, and Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya Hospital. Authorities reported that several injured persons remain in critical condition.
