New Delhi – A devastating fire broke out in a house in Delhi’s Hauz Khas on Wednesday night, claiming the life of retired IAS officer Dhanendra Kumar and leaving his son critically injured. Police and fire brigade teams, who rushed to the scene, initially suspected an explosion in the indoor unit of an AC as the cause of the fire. However, a detailed investigation into electrical appliances is still underway to determine the actual cause.
Around 11:18 PM on Wednesday, the Hauz Khas police station received a PCR call informing them that a fire had broken out in a house at R-15, Hauz Khas. Responding immediately, police and fire brigade teams arrived at the spot. Two fire tenders were deployed to douse the flames. Firefighters managed to control the blaze after extensive efforts. According to reports, the fire first ignited from household items on the ground floor and then spread to wooden windows on the first floor. Eyewitnesses stated that the house was a ground-plus-two structure, with five people present at the time, including family members and domestic help.
