The process of obtaining a Fire No Objection Certificate (NOC) for buildings in Delhi has just become simpler. State government officials have announced that certificates issued by private certification agencies and experts will now also be accepted. This change is expected to put an end to the long wait times that applicants previously faced.
Under the new rule, private organisations and experts will be authorised to verify a building’s safety standards and issue a Fire NOC, provided they meet government-set eligibility criteria. The government has also laid down clear guidelines for accepting these certificates, shifting the responsibility from solely government officials to include the private sector. As a result, the time taken to secure a Fire NOC is set to reduce significantly.
The Delhi government’s Home Department has issued an official notification stating that the new rule will apply to all types of buildings. It has been clarified that certificates issued by private agencies and experts will hold the same legal validity as those issued by government authorities. This move is expected to provide major relief to entrepreneurs and the public alike.
