A physically challenged man from Tamil Nadu allegedly consumed pesticide outside the Kalakkad police station on Monday after being arrested for illegally selling liquor and later released on bail. The incident occurred following a heated argument between the man, his relatives, and police personnel at the station premises.
Sivan Pandi, 45, a resident of Vaduvoorpatti near Kalakkad, was arrested along with his 21-year-old son Charles Naveen for selling liquor illegally. Their motorcycle was also seized by the police. After registering the case, the Kalakkad police granted Sivan Pandi bail, considering his physical disability and poor health condition. However, on Monday around 2:30 pm, Sivan Pandi arrived at the police station with a few relatives and confronted the police over the case registered against him.
