An accident occurred on the Etawah–Gwalior Highway in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah district this morning when the boom of a JCB machine broke and fell. According to local police officers and eyewitnesses, the JCB’s extended arm (boom) suddenly snapped while the machine was working on the road. No fatalities were reported in the incident, though traffic on the highway has come to a standstill.
Speaking on the matter, Etawah Police Station In-charge SP Ravindra Kumar said, “The JCB’s boom collapsed suddenly, and emergency services have been dispatched to the accident site. Work is underway to clear the road. No information regarding any injuries to individuals has been received.” The JCB operator is also safe, having escaped with minor injuries.
The Etawah–Gwalior Highway is one of the major roads, with thousands of vehicles plying this route daily. While the exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined, locals suspect a technical fault or maintenance lapse in the machine. Road department officials have also dispatched a technical team to inspect the site.
