The census operation in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad district has suffered severe delays, prompting sharp criticism from the district administration. District Magistrate (DM) S. K. Gautam expressed strong displeasure over the sluggish pace of the census work. He also revealed the alarming fact that out of 2,892 census blocks in the district, enumeration has not even started in around 1,500 blocks.
Speaking at an official meeting on Thursday, DM Gautam strongly condemned the apathy of government officials and staff involved in the process. He warned that if the census is not completed on schedule, strict legal action will be taken against negligent officers. He also indicated that FIRs may be registered against responsible officials. Additionally, he directed officers at various levels to immediately fulfil their duties.
