A major cyber fraud case has come to light in the Sarsapur area of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, in which con artists have allegedly duped two individuals of about ₹62 lakh. Police say the swindlers posed as representatives of a reputed investment firm and lured their victims with the twin promises of “work from home” and “stock-market trading.”
The first victim is a private-sector employee. According to police, he received an unsolicited call from the fraudsters who introduced themselves as executives of a well-known investment company. They offered him a “work-from-home” assignment that involved transferring money in instalments. Over several transactions, ₹28 lakh was siphoned off from his bank account.
The second victim, who was active in financial investments, was separately contacted by the same gang. The fraudsters convinced him to park his funds in the stock market, resulting in another ₹34 lakh being siphoned off. Both victims filed police complaints and a case has been registered. Investigators have launched a probe and are attempting to trace the origin of the fraudulent transactions.
