In a significant development for the agricultural sector in Andhra Pradesh, an application for a Geographical Indication (GI) tag has been filed for the 'Ananthapuramu Lemon', a distinctive citrus variety cultivated in parts of Anantapur district. This initiative is expected to strengthen regional horticulture branding, prevent misuse of the product's name, and improve market opportunities for local farmers. The application was filed with the assistance of the Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre (IPFC) at the Madanapalle Institute of Technology and Science (MITS).
