The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project has achieved a significant milestone with the introduction of a giant tunnel boring machine (TBM) that is set to bore a 21-kilometer tunnel at a daily rate of 70.56 meters. This ambitious project, which is expected to reduce travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to just under three hours, is a key initiative of the Indian government to boost the country's high-speed rail network.
The TBM, named "Maharashtra-01," is a massive machine that weighs over 3,000 tons and is 170 meters long. It is equipped with advanced technology, including a 2,000-horsepower electric motor and a sophisticated navigation system, to ensure efficient and safe tunnel boring. The machine is capable of boring through hard rock and soil with ease, making it an ideal choice for this project.
