The relentless summer heat in Gujarat has now reached dangerous levels. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), maximum temperatures in several districts of the state have soared above 42°C. In response, the state government has issued weather alerts to raise awareness among the public.
So far, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, and Bhuj have recorded temperatures exceeding 42°C. The weather department has warned that temperatures could rise further over the next 48 hours. With intense solar radiation in these areas, the risk of heatstroke and dehydration has significantly increased.
The state government has urged people to avoid stepping out between 12 PM and 4 PM. It has also directed authorities to ensure the availability of water and Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) in public places. Schools and colleges have shortened their afternoon sessions, and children have been advised to avoid outdoor play during peak hours.
Doctors are actively spreading awareness about heat-related illnesses. They have urged people to seek immediate medical attention if symptoms of heatstroke appear. They have also recommended consuming cool water, fruit juices, and light meals.
