Chennai, May 28, 2026: A 35-year-old head constable attached to the Vadapalani police station in Chennai was arrested by the Ashok Nagar police on Thursday after he allegedly sexually harassed a 15-year-old boy while in an inebriated state. The incident occurred late on Wednesday night at a house in Kodambakkam, where the constable, identified as P. Velappan, had gone with a friend and consumed alcohol.
According to a senior official from the City Police, Velappan, heavily intoxicated, entered the bedroom where the minor boy was sleeping alone. The boy had traveled from Nagercoil with his parents and was staying at his uncle’s house in Kodambakkam. Upon finding the boy alone and vulnerable, Velappan allegedly attempted to sexually harass him. The minor, resisting the assault, managed to escape and alerted a nearby patrol officer on duty.
