The North Western Railway (NWR) has announced a special train from Hanumangarh Junction to Rameswaram-Madurai. The train, numbered 09718, will depart from Hanumangarh Junction at 10:00 AM on August 8, 2024. While its final destination is Rameswaram, the train will also serve Madurai. According to railway officials, the journey from Hanumangarh to Rameswaram will take approximately 32 hours, while the trip to Madurai will span 36 hours.
The railway department stated that the purpose of this special train is to provide easy access to major religious sites in South India for pilgrims and tourists. The train will include 2AC, 3AC, Sleeper Class, and General compartments. Ticket bookings will open on August 5, 2024, and can be done online. The fare for this special train has been set slightly higher than regular trains, with the 2AC class estimated to cost between ₹2,800 and ₹3,200.
Railway officials mentioned that the train’s route will include key stations such as Hanumangarh, Sri Ganganagar, Bikaner, Jaipur, Kota, Ratlam, Vadodara, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, and Arambagh. Passengers will be notified in case of any changes to the train’s schedule. Additionally, the railway has made special arrangements for security and passenger convenience to ensure a smooth journey.
