Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann recently faced intense scrutiny over his past remarks about drinking, which he made during a 2019 election campaign. In a recent interview with NDTV, Mann strongly refuted claims of character assassination, stating that his opponents have nothing substantial with which to challenge him.
The controversy began when Mann shared a clip from a 2019 election campaign speech in which he claimed to have drunk alcohol for 14 years. During the speech, Mann said, "If I drank day and night for 14 years, would I be alive?" However, Mann's opponents seized on the remarks as evidence of his alleged substance abuse and attempts to downplay his past.
