The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a series of weather alerts across Kerala as the state braces for widespread heavy rainfall, lightning, and strong winds between June 2 and June 6, 2026. The department has placed multiple districts under 'orange' and 'yellow' alerts, signaling varying degrees of rainfall intensity.
On Tuesday, June 2, the IMD issued an 'orange alert' for three northern districts—Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad—indicating very heavy rainfall. The remaining 11 districts across the state were placed under a 'yellow alert,' signifying heavy rainfall. The alerts come with warnings of thunderstorms, moderate rainfall, and gusty winds in most parts of the state, except Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam.
