Indian Railways is preparing to launch a major procurement tender worth approximately ₹40,000 crore to acquire 100,000 freight wagons over the next three to four years. According to two unnamed officials familiar with the plan, the tender—expected to be larger than the previous one issued in 2022—will involve an annual procurement of 35,000 to 40,000 wagons. The first set of orders is likely to be released in the second quarter of the current financial year, between July and September.
