A comprehensive 15-year study conducted at two prominent tertiary care referral hospitals in India has shed light on the shifting trends in revision hip replacement surgeries. The research, which analyzed 252 revision total hip arthroplasty (rTHA) procedures performed between 2011 and 2025 at SPARSH Hospital for Advanced Surgeries in Bengaluru and KIMS Sunshine Hospital in Hyderabad, indicates that infections and fracture-related complications are becoming more significant reasons for these surgeries. This shift is largely attributed to the increasing number of young patients undergoing hip replacement surgeries, who subsequently experience such complications due to their demanding lifestyles.
