Reports indicate that the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has witnessed another internal split. The rebel bloc grew stronger yesterday (June 12, 2024) when three MLAs joined and today (June 13, 2024) one more legislator added to their ranks. Political observers warn that this consolidation of dissenters will further weaken the party.
The formation of this new group is seen as a direct challenge to the current leadership of Edappadi K. Palaniswami (often referred to as E.P. Raj). Dissident MLAs have been openly questioning Raj’s leadership and demanding a complete overhaul of the party’s policies and functioning. Growing dissatisfaction over the party’s direction and decision-making has fueled this rebellion.
According to sources within political circles, the rebels are hoping to rally more support for their faction. Reports suggest they are holding consultations with party cadres and allies to strengthen their position. Meanwhile, the party leadership has dismissed the rebels’ moves as misguided and misleading.
