Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-K) ne ek bada milestone achieve kar liya hai. Unhone India ka pehla Doppler Orbitography and Radiopositioning Integrated by Satellite (DORIS) beacon install kiya hai. Ye installation abhi hi complete hui hai aur isse desh ki satellite navigation aur geodetic infrastructure mein ek crucial advancement aaya hai.
DORIS ek ground-based system hai jo satellites ki precise orbit determination ke liye use hota hai, khas kar low Earth orbit mein. Ye radio signals receive aur analyze karke satellites ki positions ko highly accurate tareeke se track karne mein help karta hai. IIT-Kanpur par install kiya gaya beacon satellite data ki precision improve karne mein contribution dega. Isse meteorology, geodesy aur disaster management jaise applications ko support milega.
DORIS system ek global network ka hissa hai jo International DORIS Service (IDS) ke dwara manage kiya jaata hai. Is network mein duniya bhar ke 60 se zyada stations hain. India ka is network mein shamil hona desh ki international space collaborations mein role ko enhance karega aur indigenous navigation capabilities ko strengthen karega. Ye project ISRO ke saath collaboration mein execute kiya gaya hai, jo academic research aur national space missions ke beech ek synergy dikhata hai.
