The Italian province of Reggio Emilia has banned two high-profile concerts—scheduled for July 17 and 18—by American rappers Travis Scott and Kanye West, citing public order and safety concerns. The decision was announced by the regional prefect, Salvatore Angieri, in a statement released on Friday evening. The ban follows concerns raised by local Jewish community organizations and other bodies regarding Kanye West’s participation in the Pulse of Gaia Festival. Authorities stated that the close timing of the events, the expected large crowds within a 24-hour period, and the risk of counter-demonstrations influenced their decision.
