Rajasthan’s Kota city has once again witnessed extreme weather conditions. On Tuesday, the maximum temperature soared to 46.4°C, marking the highest reading of the season so far. The weather department has issued a heatwave alert, warning residents to stay cautious as the scorching conditions are expected to persist until May 31.
According to the local meteorological centre, Kota’s daytime temperatures on Tuesday were significantly higher than usual. Even after sunset, there was little relief, with the minimum temperature hovering around 32°C. Meteorologists attribute the heatwave conditions to two consecutive days of temperatures exceeding 45°C, which also increases the risk of heatstroke for people outdoors.
The weather department has urged residents to avoid stepping out during peak daytime hours and to schedule essential tasks for early morning or late evening. It has also advised drinking plenty of water, wearing light-coloured clothing, and keeping the head covered. Special care has been recommended for livestock and plants to prevent dehydration.
