Tirupati, May 25, 2026: A nearly one-year-old female leopard was rescued from a disused toilet at the S.V. Veterinary University (SVVU) Clinical Complex in Tirupati on Monday morning. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Tirupati Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) Y. Srinivasa Reddy and other senior forest officials. The leopard was safely shifted to the Animal Rescue Centre at the S.V. Zoological Park for observation and further care.
The rescue operation was carried out by a team from the Healing And Nurturing Units for Monitoring, Aid and Nursing of Wildlife (HANUMAN) Project, a state government initiative addressing human-wildlife conflict. According to a statement from S.V. Zoological Park Curator Anurag Meena, all safety protocols were strictly followed to ensure the wellbeing of both the animal and the personnel involved. The veterinary team at the zoo is closely monitoring the leopard’s condition. Further updates on its health status will be shared in due course.
