Lucknow’s beloved Children’s Train service has halved its rides, leaving another major attraction—the Adventure Arena—largely deserted. The decision to cut back has taken locals by surprise.
According to officials managing the Children’s Train, the reduction became unavoidable over the past few days due to technical glitches and maintenance hurdles. The service, which runs on older carriages, urgently needed upgrades, but those efforts have been delayed. As a result, the daily schedule has been trimmed from 12 trips to just 6.
The Adventure Arena, a hub for thrilling activities for children, has also felt the impact. Visitor numbers have plummeted since the train’s service was reduced. Managers report that at the start of the year, the arena saw an average of 500–600 children daily, but that figure has now dropped to 200–300.
While locals acknowledge the decision may be temporary, they urge that key sources of entertainment for children not be shut down entirely. They are now urging the government and local authorities to step in swiftly and resolve the issue.
