Another helicopter landing glitch in Maharashtra: Minister forced to land 1 km away from destination

Political leaders in Maharashtra once again faced a logistical hurdle during their travel yesterday. A state minister’s helicopter journey was disrupted due to a lack of a helipad in the vicinity, forcing pilots to land nearly one kilometre away from the intended destination. The incident occurred in an area of Thane district, Maharashtra. According to sources, since no suitable helipad was available near the minister’s specified destination, the helicopter carrying him was compelled to land at a helipad located about one kilometre away. The minister then had to travel by road to reach the final destination.

Local sources reported that the Maharashtra government has not yet issued any official statement regarding the matter. However, an official from the state Transport Department acknowledged that the shortage of helipads has been a long-standing issue. He added that such incidents are common, particularly in remote areas where the number of helipads is limited. He also mentioned that while the government has plans to construct more helipads, the process is taking time.
