A major fire broke out late on Thursday night in a residential area of Thane city. According to sources present at the scene, a fire was reported on the 8th floor of a 12-storey residential building located in the Vivekanand Nagar area of Thane. Fire brigade teams reached the spot immediately and attempted to control the blaze. It is reported that the fire was so intense that 12 electricity meters were completely destroyed.
No casualties have been reported in the incident.
Local residents stated that during the fire, a loud whooshing sound could be heard, and thick plumes of smoke rose high into the air. Three fire brigade teams arrived at the scene and managed to bring the fire under control after around 45 minutes of relentless efforts. Fire brigade officials stated that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, but an investigation has been initiated. They added that the fire spread rapidly through the residential building, causing significant property damage.
