Muzaffarpur, Bihar – Tensions flared into violence on Sunday evening when a man was shot by his in-laws in retaliation for marrying a woman of their choice. The incident occurred in the Nariyal Toli locality of Muzaffarpur district, exposing deep-rooted conflicts over inter-caste and love marriages in the region.
According to local police, the victim, identified as Ramesh Kumar (32), was returning home around 7:00 PM when three unidentified men on a motorcycle opened fire at him. He sustained two gunshot wounds to the abdomen and was rushed to the nearest hospital, where doctors confirmed his condition was stable. Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under Sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Kanti police station.
