Bengaluru city police on Tuesday evening successfully detained a man who was brandishing a machete and causing widespread panic among residents in the southern part of the city. The incident unfolded in the densely populated area of JP Nagar, where the man reportedly began threatening passersby and shopkeepers with the large, sharp blade around 6:00 PM. Eyewitnesses described the man as agitated and shouting incoherently, which prompted several local residents to alert the police.
Authorities responded quickly, with a team from the JP Nagar police station arriving at the scene within minutes. After assessing the situation, officers attempted to calm the individual and persuade him to surrender the weapon. When the man refused and continued to brandish the machete, police took decisive action. A team of the Quick Response Team (QRT) was called in, and officers used non-lethal force to subdue him without causing any harm to bystanders. The man was taken into custody and brought to the police station for further questioning.
