The festival of Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, with security and harmony. The local administration and police ensured that roads were not used for namaz. Instead, prayers were held at designated spots like the Circus Ground and other locations. Thousands gathered at these places, while over ten lakh people participated in peaceful processions across different parts of the city.
Meerut’s Police Commissioner Lalbihari Singh spoke on the arrangements, saying, “We had made elaborate security arrangements. Roads were not allowed for namaz; instead, safe locations were identified. This ensured that people could celebrate the festival without any hindrance.” Police sources also stated that around 50,000 people offered namaz at the Circus Ground.
Meanwhile, peaceful processions were held in various parts of the city, with around ten lakh people joining in to spread messages of harmony and peace. Mufti Mujahid, a local Muslim community leader, said, “Even though we couldn’t offer namaz in public places, we shared the joy of Eid through peaceful processions.”
