Meerut Metro and Namo Bharat (RRTS) passengers have been issued a stern warning—overstaying at stations will incur penalties. Authorities have announced that those who linger beyond permissible timings after exiting fare gates will be fined, aiming to ensure smooth operations and discourage unauthorized access.
The warning comes as part of a broader crackdown on station misuse. Officials from the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), which operates the Namo Bharat trains, and the Meerut Metro administration have clarified that passengers must exit within 30 minutes of completing their journey. Those who fail to do so will face fines ranging from ₹20 to ₹50, depending on the duration of overstay.
A senior NCRTC official stated, “This measure is necessary to prevent congestion, enhance security, and maintain operational efficiency. Overstaying disrupts the system and creates unnecessary bottlenecks.” Similar protocols are already in place on Delhi Metro lines, where overstay fines have been enforced for years.
