A fierce dispute broke out between two groups in the Saradhna locality of Meerut on Thursday over the flow of animal blood in a drain after a sacrifice. According to sources, the two groups had a pre-existing land dispute, which escalated after the incident. During the dispute, people from both sides hurled accusations at each other and engaged in a physical altercation. Local resident Mohammad Farooq stated that after the sacrifice, the animal's blood was flowing in the drain, and he released water into the drain to clean it. However, people from the opposing group, who are also neighbors, objected to this and claimed that the drain belonged to them. This led to an argument between the two groups, which quickly turned violent. People from both sides pelted stones at each other, causing chaos in the locality. To control the situation, a police team arrived at the scene and calmed down both groups. The police registered a written complaint from both parties and attempted to resolve the situation peacefully. According to information from the Superintendent of Police (SP) office, an investigation into the matter has been initiated, and both parties are being questioned. The police stated that both parties have been provided with legal advice regarding the land dispute. The local administration has also deployed additional police force to bring the situation under control. Locals said that such incidents can affect social harmony and that both parties should reach a settlement as soon as possible.
