In a significant diplomatic breakthrough amid long-standing tensions between the United States and Iran, the two nations have agreed to extend a ceasefire by 60 days and initiate talks on Iran’s nuclear program. However, this agreement has not yet been formally confirmed by either side. U.S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that the proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is pending approval from President Donald Trump.
The agreement comes at a critical juncture when the U.S.-Iran ceasefire was already fragile. On Thursday, the U.S. military accused Iran of violating the ceasefire, citing intelligence provided by Kuwait after an American strike on Iran. The U.S. Central Command stated that Kuwait intercepted Iranian missiles late Wednesday, labeling it a “major ceasefire violation.”
