The family of a fisherman from Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu, has appealed to the Ramanathapuram Collector’s office, seeking government intervention to recover the body of their missing relative, who fell into the sea off Mangaluru, Karnataka, on May 3. Muthukumar, aged 41, a resident of Seeniapa Dargha Poovan Kudiyiruppu village near Mandapam in Ramanathapuram, had traveled to Mangaluru five months ago in search of better fishing opportunities due to insufficient income in his home district.
According to the petition submitted by Muthukumar’s wife, Muthumari, on Monday, her husband went missing after accidentally falling into the sea while fishing on May 3. The incident occurred off the Mangaluru coast, where Muthukumar was engaged in fishing activities. Since then, his family has been left in distress, awaiting news of his whereabouts.
