Senior Sanskrit scholar from Karnataka, Pandit Lakshman Parashar, spoke about the significance of friendship in human life, emphasizing the rare bond between Shri Krishna and Sudama. He stressed that such friendships should serve as a model for all kinds of relationships.
Parashar addressed a public event in Bengaluru on Thursday (June 12, 2025), where he elaborated on how the quality of friendship influences every stage of life. “The friendship between Shri Krishna and Sudama was devoid of any discrimination. Despite Sudama’s poverty, Shri Krishna treated him with equal respect. This is the true essence of friendship,” he remarked.
According to him, modern friendships are often based on wealth and status, whereas real friendship should be built on emotional closeness. Addressing the youth, he advised, “Friendship is an art. To nurture it, we must open our hearts.”
