The Madhya Pradesh government has taken a major step to revolutionize fish farming in the state. Recently, the country’s first Integrated Aqua Park was inaugurated in Burhanpur district. Spread over a vast 50-acre area, this park is fully equipped with modern technology. The primary objective of this project is to strengthen fish farming commercially and connect women in rural areas with self-employment.
The aqua park has been established with joint financial support from the state government and the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY). The park features separate tanks and ponds for cultivating various types of fish. Additionally, it offers facilities for seed production, processing, packaging, and marketing of fish. The project is expected to provide direct employment to around 160 women, while thousands more will benefit indirectly through job opportunities.
