On Saturday, the Muzaffarpur police carried out a major operation, raiding a clandestine cement manufacturing unit. This illegal operation had been running for nearly four years, with counterfeit packaging and wrappers of prominent brands like Ultratech, ACC, and JK Cement being used. During the raid, the police seized two trucks of material along with construction supplies.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Ravi Kumar Singh stated that the factory was located on the outskirts of Muzaffarpur, where cement was being produced illegally. The operation was launched following a tip-off. The team raided the premises, recovering large quantities of finished goods, raw materials, and machinery. Additionally, counterfeit cement packets bearing the names of major brands were also confiscated.
Investigations revealed that a local gang was behind this illicit trade. They used cheap raw materials sourced from the market to produce fake cement, which was then packaged in wrappers of well-known brands and sold. The operation reportedly generated crores in profits for the accused. The police have launched a manhunt to arrest those involved, while also investigating whether the fake cement was being transported outside the state.
