Nagpur, 12 October 2023 – The Nagpur police on Wednesday prohibited a march to the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) headquarters, which was to be organized by Prakash Ambedkar's 'Jan Akrosh Morcha'. The police stated that permission for the march was not granted as it posed a risk of disrupting public order.
The march, organized by 'Jan Akrosh Morcha', aimed to stage a protest in front of the RSS headquarters. Prakash Ambedkar termed the decision as 'inappropriate', alleging that the government is suppressing democracy. He said, "The government is using every tactic to stifle our voice. We will fight against this injustice." Ambedkar appealed to the people to protest peacefully.
Nagpur police officials stated that they had imposed the ban based on prior information. Police Superintendent Amiteshwar Singh said, "We had multiple discussions with the march organizers, but they remained adamant about their demands. This decision was made keeping public safety in mind." He also mentioned that the protesters were advised to express their views through alternative means.
