Nagpur Municipal Commissioner transfer; Vipin Itankar appointed as in-charge

Nagpur, 15th - Dr. Abhijit Chaudhary, Commissioner of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), has been transferred to Pune Municipal Corporation. This administrative transfer has been officially approved by the state government, and Vipin Itankar has been appointed as the in-charge Commissioner in his place. The transfer order was issued by the Maharashtra Home Department and was made public on Monday.

Dr. Abhijit Chaudhary has been serving as the NMC Commissioner since 2022. During his tenure, several developmental projects and administrative reforms were implemented in the city. Following his transfer, Vipin Itankar has taken over the responsibilities of the NMC. Vipin Itankar is an officer of the Maharashtra Administrative Service (MAS) and has previously held various key positions. Currently, he is handling important responsibilities across different departments of the Maharashtra government.

This transfer is expected to have an immediate impact on the administration of the NMC. Under the leadership of the new Commissioner, it is hoped that the civic body’s functioning will gain momentum. Meanwhile, Dr. Chaudhary has been transferred to the Pune Municipal Corporation, and an evaluation of his tenure in Nagpur is underway.
