Allegations of hooliganism have surfaced against the BJP during the recent Municipal Corporation elections in Punjab. Senior AAP leader Balbir Singh Arora has levelled serious charges against the BJP, alleging that the party intimidated, assaulted, and even killed opponents during the electoral process.
Arora claimed that the BJP actively encouraged hooliganism at the grassroots level by deploying its workers to disrupt the elections. He warned that such incidents pose a grave threat to democracy and urged the Election Commission to take immediate action. He also appealed to the media to actively cover the issue to raise public awareness.
The BJP has not yet responded to these allegations. However, senior party leaders have reiterated their commitment to conducting a transparent and fair electoral process. Punjab’s Chief Minister and other political parties have also expressed concern over the matter and demanded a report from the Election Commission.
In response to the controversy, the Election Commission has issued a statement saying that it is investigating the allegations and will take strict action against any party found guilty.
