In Greater Noida’s Sirsa village, 26-year-old Nikki Bhati died under suspicious circumstances after being burnt to death on 21 August 2025. The incident sparked a prolonged dispute between the two families, which has now been resolved nine months later through a panchayat settlement. After several rounds of talks in the presence of village and community leaders, both sides reached a mutual agreement. The decision was taken keeping in mind the future of the children and the well-being of the families.
Initially, Nikki’s natal family had levelled serious allegations of dowry-related murder and torture against the in-laws. The incident had caused a sensation in the area, prompting the police to launch an investigation. During the probe, the main accused—Nikki’s husband Vipin Bhati—was arrested on 23 August 2025 following an encounter. Additionally, her mother-in-law, father-in-law, and elder brother-in-law were also arrested and sent to jail. However, both families have now reached a peaceful resolution of the dispute through the panchayat.
