Allegations of voting malpractice have surfaced in the PSC (Panchayat Samiti) election of Nandyal in Karnataka’s Yadgir district. Locals and representatives of political parties have accused officials of allowing nominations to be filed without prior notice, despite an unexpected change in the nomination filing process. The Block Development Officer (BDO) has clarified that the instructions were officially announced and no irregular changes were made.
According to the official election notice, a fixed date and time had been set for filing nominations. However, some candidates or their representatives are alleged to have filed nominations without prior notice. This has raised concerns about interference in the electoral process and potential injustice to eligible candidates. Local media and political parties have demanded an immediate investigation into the matter.
BDO Srinivas stated, “We had implemented the instructions within the stipulated time. No candidate has filed nominations without notice. These allegations are based on misinformation.” However, locals and representatives of certain political parties suspect that this could be part of an ongoing misuse of the process.
