New Delhi, May 28, 2026: Delhi has achieved a significant milestone in healthcare access with the issuance of over 7.72 lakh Ayushman Bharat Health Cards, as announced by Health Minister Pankaj Singh on Wednesday. Of these, 46,963 beneficiaries have already availed medical treatment under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (ABPM-JAY), marking a substantial expansion in the city’s healthcare safety net.
The distribution of cards has been divided between two categories: 2.9 lakh cards issued under the Vaya Vandana Scheme (VVS), specifically targeting senior citizens, and 4.81 lakh cards under the non-VVS category, which extends coverage to eligible families across Delhi. Speaking on the progress, Minister Pankaj Singh highlighted the scheme’s growing role as a cornerstone of accessible healthcare in the capital. “The Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY scheme is emerging as a strong pillar of accessible healthcare in Delhi. Our focus remains on ensuring seamless treatment, wider awareness, and timely benefits for every eligible citizen through a robust healthcare network,” he said.
