New Delhi, October 20, 2023: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor, named 'Namo Bharat', on Friday. This marks a significant milestone in India's urban mobility infrastructure, aiming to reduce travel time between the national capital and western Uttar Pradesh.
The 17-kilometre priority section of the corridor from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot, featuring five stations—Ghaziabad, Guldhar, and the depot—will be launched today. The full 82-kilometre corridor, connecting Delhi to Meerut via Modipuram, is expected to be completed by June 2025. Once operational, the RRTS will slash travel time from nearly four hours by road to just about one hour, operating at a peak speed of 180 km/h.
