Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh – On Monday morning, a teacher tragically died after drowning in the Ganges River in the Rajapur area of Prayagraj. According to local police and administration officials, the incident occurred when 45-year-old teacher Ramesh Chandra Pandey was bathing in the Ganges. Police reports state that his condition suddenly deteriorated while swimming, and he drowned in deep waters. Nearby people immediately attempted to rescue him, but they could not save him.
Teacher Ramesh Chandra Pandey was a mathematics teacher at a government school in Prayagraj. His family members revealed that he regularly went to bathe in the Ganges. At the time of the incident, he was alone, and no one was with him. Local residents reported that the water level in the Ganges is currently higher than usual, increasing the risk. The police have initiated an investigation, and the exact cause of death will only be confirmed after the post-mortem report.
Following the incident, panic spread among local residents. Many have appealed for caution while bathing in the Ganges. A Prayagraj police spokesperson stated that drowning incidents in the Ganges are common, especially during the monsoon season when the water flow is strong. Authorities have advised people to bathe only in recommended areas.
