New Delhi – A tragic incident took place in Delhi’s Hauz Khas area on Wednesday night, where retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Dhanendra Kumar died due to smoke inhalation. His son also suffered serious injuries. According to police and fire department officials, out of the five people present at the spot, two were seriously injured and immediately rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre. Dhanendra Kumar passed away during treatment, while his son is still undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Around 11:18 PM on Wednesday, Hauz Khas police station received a PCR call informing them that a fire had broken out in a residential house at R-15, Hauz Khas. Police and fire department teams reached the spot immediately. Two fire tenders were deployed at the scene, and after about 30 minutes of effort, the fire was brought under control. According to police officers, the fire started from household items on the ground floor and spread to the wooden windows of the first floor. The house was a ground-plus-two-storey building.
