Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal has significantly expanded her state cabinet. On August 31, 2024, 35 new ministers were sworn in at a ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan in Kolkata. State Governor C.V. Ananda Bose administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly appointed ministers. This expansion is expected to enhance the efficiency of the state government, particularly in light of political activities following the Lok Sabha elections.
Among the newly appointed ministers are several experienced legislators. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has retained Suvendu Adhikari as Deputy Chief Minister.
